Chakras
CROWN:
associated with the pituitary gland; located at the
top of the skull; chakra for connection with spirituality;
colour is white; sound is aum; element is spirit.
BROW: associated with the pineal gland; located
centrally on the forehead; chakra
for psychic perception; colour is indigo; sound is om;
element is mind.
THROAT: associated with the thyroid gland; located
at base of the neck; chakra for psychic and physical
communication; colour is blue; sound is ham; element
is ether.
HEART: associated with the thymus gland; located
behind the sternum; chakra for emotions and universal
love; colour is green; sound is yam; element is air.
SOLAR PLEXUS: associated with the adrenal glands
and spleen; located
at base of sternum;
this is the point of energy and power and the balancing
of it; colour is yellow; sound is ram; element is fire.
NAVEL: associated with the lymphatic system;
located a few inches below
the physical navel; chakra of sex and fertility; colour
is orange; sound is vam; element is water.
BASE: associated with the ovaries and testes;
located at the perineum; this is the point of survival
and place of birth and rebirth; colour is red; sound
is lam; element is earth.
It is suggested that
the chakras are connected to each other and that they
link through the body by su btle energy channels called
nadis. It is tempting to suggest that chakras
and nadis are simply alternative names for the meridian
system and acupuncture points described in Chinese medicine,
however this is not so; they function at a far more
subtle level then the meridian system and may, in effect,
complement it.
