Wellness: This is the application of 14 more points
making a total of a 20 point protocol to enhance the
function of the liver which has ben found to benefit
clients with liver disease, Hepatitis B, and C. Liver
Wellness points are Sympathetic, Shenmen, Kidney, Pancreas,
Liver, Spleen, Lung, Heart, Point Zero, Large Intestine,
Small Intestine, Stomach, Mouth, Hunger Point, Endocrine,
Forebrain, Occiput, Liver Yang 1, Liver Yang 2, and
Hepatitis Point. Acupuncture can be applied according
to the symptoms a person is suffering and to clear stagnant
liver qi. Symptoms that can be alleviated with Ear Acupuncture
in Liver Disease include chronic continuous fatigue,
sudden attacks of fatigue, Digestive System problems,
Aching Joints, and Depression to name a few. The qualities
reflecting the highest nature of the liver are free
flow, acceptance and kindness. The liver is also responsible
for clear judgement and decisions.
Contra-indications for ear acupuncture include when
the client is totally confused and unable to give consent;
if the ear is infected or has eczema or psoriasis (if
the back is clear they can be applied from the back).
In haemophiliacs, clients on anti-coagulants or heavy
steroids, the Sympathetic point should be avoided, and
in pregnancy the only ear points that can be used are
Shenmen and Kidney. For those suffering from epilepsy,
treatment is beneficial however should be built up slowly
over a period of time. For those with a fear of needles,
or who cannot attend regularly, Magnetic Balls can be
placed on the points and kept there for a period of
up to a week to enjoy maximum effect.
Acupuncture points can be stimulated by various means:
touch, movement, heat, electricity, as well as needling.
Health related procedures such as acupressure, shiatsu,
reiki, and qi gong therapy work on the same principles
as acupuncture even though no needles are used.
