Ear
Acupuncture
Acupuncture
is a form of natural healing that originates in China
and is the use of fine needles inserted into specific
locations (called Xue in China and Point
in the West) on the surface of the body which alters
and improves bodily function. It is the most researched
of all traditional medicines and has been shown to work.
For instance, regular ear acupuncture will increase
the levels of certain cells associated with immune response
in the blood. To truly understand its mechanisms you
need to understand the philosophies of Traditional Chinese
medicine. Acupuncture is a way of moving Qi, unblocking
meridians, and restoring organ function. Qi is vital
force. Qi exists everywhere, as air does, however
it is not just air. It is the wave-like vital energy
found within our bodies and in the universe.
Ear
Acupuncture (also known as auricular therapy) is used
with great success in treating many conditions however
the areas I have trained in with Yuan Clinic in London
run by John Tindall, are with detoxification from drugs,
alcohol and internal toxins, and Liver Wellness.
Detoxification: Ear Acupuncture is used with
great success in treating the problems of substance
misuse both in acute withdrawal and long term rehabilitation,
by using a 6 point protocol which are:
Sympathetic: has a strong pain killing action
and relieves contractions in intestinal organs; causes
dilation of blood vessels; also used for night sweats,
involuntary perspiration and is effective in treating
eye disease.
Shenmen: Calms the mind and therefore treats
insomnia, restlessness, and excessive sensitivity. Also
promotes lower abdominal circulation, harmonises the
liver and reduces high blood pressure.
Kidney: Strengthens kidney function, invigorates
digestion, and is helpful in pain reduction.
