About Fiona
Well where to start describing yourself? I spent the
first twenty one years of my life in Australia where
I was born before arriving in London, where I now live.
I probably received my early fascination with medicines
through my parents who were both practising pharmacists
at the time. I studied massage at 16, and started studying
Herbal Medicine at 24 and completed my academic studies
in 1996 at 30 years old. The life studies still and
always will continue. The last few years has lead me
towards more energetic forms of study including ear
acupuncture, and alot of work introduced to the west
by Mantak Chia, based on early Taoist Energetic Work.
My main interest in doing this joint website was to
record and let other people know about the plants and
application of them that I come across in our journey
to South America and also about the people applying
them. I have a fascination with medicinal plants and
this is quite fortunate as I am a Medical Herbalist
amongst other things. I also have a fascination with
people of the world and others cultures so the plan
of going to South America to learn about plants and
share my skills in return will fulfill my main areas
of interest: travelling, plants, and people.
At the moment (2002) I run a clinic in London, where
I use a variety of skills to help people get well. These
include Herbal Medicine, Massage, Ear Acupuncture, Flower
Remedies, and Reiki. I also advise on diet and life
style changes. I work alot with people with Hepatitis
C and find the combination of ear acupuncture and herbs
and dietary changes very beneficial for liver wellness.
I make alot of my own herbal remedies and also dispense
these at my clinic. The garden is now full of medicinal
plants from Europe with a few from different parts of
the world and has no chemicals used on it so is a good
source for alot of my medicines. I also make ear candles
(also known as hopi ear candles) as these are far more
effective then ear syringing and during most summer
times I run one day medicine making workshops for the
local community. By browsing through this website you
will see the different things that interest us without
me having to explain here. I hope you enjoy this website.
It is at very early stages so there may be alot of blank
spaces but as time goes on I hope it will convey what
we are trying to do.
